About the Network Operations Residency Program

The Network Operations Residency Program is a two-year full-time residency designed specifically for university graduates interested in networking and systems engineering.

During the program, selected candidates will rotate across multiple teams and projects, gaining hands-on experience in:

Roles & Responsibilities

Network Infrastructure Operations

Monitor and maintain Google’s global network infrastructure to ensure high availability, reliability, and performance across data centers and production systems.

Incident Management & Troubleshooting

Identify and resolve networking issues through root-cause analysis, debugging, and coordination with multiple engineering teams.

Automation & Scripting

Develop automation tools and scripts using Python, Shell scripting, or similar technologies to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual tasks.

Maintenance & Deployment Activities

Assist in software upgrades, hardware maintenance, and infrastructure expansion projects with minimal service disruption.

Monitoring & Analytics

Track network performance metrics, analyze trends, and support infrastructure planning using monitoring platforms and analytics tools.

Cross-Team Collaboration

Work closely with engineers, SRE teams, and technical program managers to deliver scalable networking solutions.
